Events attended during FRESHERS WEEK 2013
We were invited by Transition University of St Andrews to take part in their Freshers Week events. We arrived in St Mary’s Quadrant on Monday 9th September. The excellent weather and lovely surroundings allowed for a great turn out of freshers to this event. New students found many stands at the event giving helpful advice about how they can lead a greener, healthier, ethical life.
StAndEN were there to offer advice and help to students entering private rented accommodation of the do’s and don’t’s of keeping their energy bills down and to advise students entering halls of residence of the mind set they have to start thinking about and putting into practice for a healthier, greener way ahead.
As a result of this event a number of students are going to be visited by StAndEN who are to carry out an energy audit at their home.
The following pictures show how the event faired.
SOLASTIC DAY at the AUGUST FARMERS MARKET ST ANDREWS
A warm windy day brought out the shoppers from all areas while the StAndEN team waited patiently for what the day would bring them on their third promotion for the “Shine on Fife” project.
The team did not have to wait long, two ladies, very keen to install Solar are now reconsidering after a bad experience and are going to call us soon to visit them. Another gentleman took our details, also keen to look at this will contact us soon. We often find people do not like to sign the dotted line or make a decision before consulting with the other half, however the enthusiasm was 100% and we are fairly sure they will come back to us or straight to Home Energy Scotland.
One gentleman realising the opportunity signed up for an immediate visit with StAndEN and was delighted that help was on hand from StAndEN and Home Energy Scotland for advice and help prior to choosing and installing a Solar System for his home. We have already visited this gentleman and organised a visit from our renewable expert to advise what he should be looking for and asking when getting quotes from installers.
Another gentleman from St Andrews spoke about his solar system and how pleased he is with it and a lady from St Andrews shared with us the great savings she has made since installing Solar PV’s and it is possible some may be willing to consider joining the Green Homes Network. A number of other people were given general energy advice and are all to be followed up with a visit to their homes.
The Ladies British Golf may have been called off due to the wind but the sun was shining for all Solar enthusiasts.
